How do I avoid reflections on gold-plated metal?

Use diffused, soft light from a lightbox or covered panels rather than bare bulbs, and position two equal lights at 45 degrees on each side. A white reflector fills the shadow side of the metal. Avoid shiny backdrops that bounce hotspots into the gold-plated surface, and keep highlights below clipping so the plating reads as a smooth warm gradient.
