Is a stamp alone proof of quality when buying wholesale jewelry?
Treat a stamp as a claim, not proof. Precious-metal hallmarking is enforced by law in many countries, but fashion jewelry stamping — 18KGP, CZ, and similar codes — is applied by the manufacturer and is not independently audited. Two suppliers can stamp the same letters onto very different levels of workmanship.
The four-step verification routine
- Check the stamp physically: under a loupe, a genuine maker's stamp is crisp, aligned, and consistently placed; sloppy or floating marks deserve a question.
- Get the spec in writing: plating karat, thickness (our 18K standard runs 0.1-0.3 micron over brass), and stone grade for the CZ lines.
- Ask for compliance documents: REACH and RoHS reports, plus third-party testing such as SGS, especially for EU-bound stock where nickel release is regulated.
- Prove it with a sample order: a small run at 6-12 pieces per style lets your QC team inspect stamps, plating, and settings before the main order.
Run this routine once per supplier and it pays for itself for years. Hengdian (HD) Jewelry supplies spec sheets, REACH/RoHS documentation, and SGS Gold Supplier certification with every wholesale account — reach us on WhatsApp to request the full pack before you order.
