How to Clean Gold Plated Jewelry Without Damaging It
Gold plated jewelry needs gentle cleaning to remove oils and residue without thinning the surface. This guide covers 18K gold plated brass jewelry with AAA CZ accents.
Three-Step Cleaning Routine
Step 1: Wipe First
Wipe dust and fingerprints off with a dry microfiber cloth before washing.
Step 2: Clean Gently
Mix one drop of mild dish soap in lukewarm water. Dampen a soft cloth or baby brush and wipe the piece lightly. Avoid soaking glued settings.
Step 3: Rinse and Dry
Rinse under lukewarm water, pat with a soft towel, and air-dry fully before storing.
What to Avoid
- Bleach, ammonia, and alcohol-based sprays
- Abrasive cloths or stiff brushes
- Ultrasonic cleaners that can loosen CZ settings
- Swimming, showering, or prolonged soaking
- Direct contact with perfume, hairspray, or lotion
