How can I tell the four constructions apart by stamp or price?
Stamps are the fastest clue. "750" or "18K" indicates solid 18K gold; "1/20 14K GF" or similar marks indicate gold filled; "925" under a gold finish indicates vermeil; "18KGP" or "18KGEP" indicates gold plated brass. Price follows the gold content — solid gold sits highest, gold filled and vermeil in the mid tier, with gold plated the most accessible.
