How do you control jewelry quality?

Quality control in gold plated fashion jewelry is less about catching a bad batch than about controlling the process behind it. At Hengdian (HD) Jewelry, inspection points sit inside the fourteen production steps in our own factory in Shanwei, Haifeng, Guangdong, and every order is re-checked at our Guangzhou warehouse before export.
What quality checks happen inside our factory?
Incoming material verification
Brass base metal and AAA cubic zirconia are checked for composition, dimensions and finish before release to the line. Out-of-spec material never enters production.
In-process checks on every line
Our five production lines run defined checks at stamping, polishing and stone setting, so defects surface at the step that caused them, not at final inspection.
Plating controlled in-house
18K gold plating over brass at 0.1-0.3 micron is our own house standard, controlled internally, not an industry-wide figure. Another thickness is available as a custom option.
Final inspection before packing
Pieces are compared with the approved sample for plating appearance, dimensions, clasp strength and post alignment. Anything outside specification is reworked or rejected.
Second QC at the export warehouse
After factory QC, goods move to our Guangzhou warehouse, where a separate team catches handling damage, mixing errors and count mismatches.
Why does a second gate matter for export orders?
Between the production floor and the shipping carton there is handling, storage and consolidation, where counts drift and finishes pick up marks. Our Guangzhou warehouse is both the export checkpoint and the packing point, so the final review happens close to dispatch. Review our setup on the about us page.
What should a buyer confirm before ordering?
- Plating specification. Put thickness and finish in writing; confirm if custom plating thickness is needed.
- Rejection criteria. Agree on what counts as a defect and how many pieces per order are acceptable.
- Sample approval. Keep a signed-off sample as the shared reference.
- Packaging. Standard packing is OPP bags only; custom packaging starts at 10,000 pieces.
What can a buyer verify in writing?
Our factory holds SGS factory audit and platform verified supplier status, and our materials are supported by REACH and CE testing. Plated pieces are lead-free, and nickel is a controlled addition whose release stays within REACH limits; we state what test reports show rather than absolute nickel-free claims. Stock designs start at 6-12 pieces per style, except codes beginning with HAI at 36 pieces.
